Cap, Royal South Western Yacht Club
Black wool peaked cap with cap badge of Royal South Western Yacht Club belonging to artist and yachtman Albert Julius Olsson (1864-1942). The badge has a central, oval reserve of blue silk edged with gold metal coil. There is a gold purl cross overall with a King’s crown of red velvet and silk and metal thread work above and a dolphin of metal thread work below. ‘RSWYC’ in gold purl is above all.
The cap’s visor is made of card faced with black patent leather (green on the under side) with black leather binding on the edge of the visor. The black leather strap across the visor is fixed with a button to either side of the cap.
On the interior of the cap there is a brown leather hat band and blue silk lining with the maker’s details stamped in gold ‘GIEVES LTD’.
