Admiralty Transmitting Magnetic Compass

Bowl: Dia 6.1" (15.5 cm) Grey painted brass, filler plug at side, expansion chamber unsighted. Inside of bowl painted white with a black lubber line carried on a white painted angled bracket attached to side, there are also four curved bars attached to the side of the bowl 90 deg. apart. Mounted in a shock absorbing mounting in a black painted metal outer casing 9.0" (22.9 cm) dia., which has a glazed slit in the side through which a black vertical card with white markings can be seen.
Card: Dia 3.75" (9.5 cm) White painted mica with black markings, graduated to 8 points and quadrantally in degrees. Attached to a black painted float at centre.
Needle: Unsighted.
Pivot: Unsighted.
Binnacle: 'Kelvin Type' Wood, was the Pattern 196 'Flotilla Type', but has had the spheres and Flinders Bar removed. Has had various screwed cover plates added. Hood consists of a black painted brass flat cover.
