Black wool peaked cap of Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company with white plastic cover. Black wool cap badge with rayed sun and fouled anchor below, both in gold metal work, on a mohair cap band.
The cap’s visor is made of card faced with black leather (blue/green on the under side) with black leather binding on the edge of the visor. The black patent leather strap across the visor is fixed with a button to either side of the cap.
On the interior of the cap there is a brown leather hat band and blue silk lining with the maker’s details stamped in gold ‘BY APPOINTMENT / GIEVES LTD’.
