Boat's liquid compass

Bowl: A brass bowl with a heavy metal weight at the base. There is a filler plug and expansion chamber. The interior of the bowl is white with a black horizontal lubber spike. Set in gimbals that are attached to the binnacle.

Card: A reduced diameter card. Mica painted white with black markings graduated to quarter points.

Needle: Unsighted.

Pivot: Unsighted.

Binnacle: A brass binnacle with a flange, containing screw holes, at the base. It also has a gimbal stop mechanism on the side. The detachable hood has one sealed window and on the side an oil lamp for illumination of the card. Diameter 7.5" (19 cm)
