Cap badge, Holme Line (Hine Brothers)
Black wool cap badge of the shipping company Holme Line (Hine Brothers) over a core. The badge contains a white rectangular flag of applied ribbed silk fabric with a red border embroidered with silk thread. There is a blue oval of applied ribbed silk fabric in the centre of the flag with the letters ‘H BROS’ in gold purl. Applied gold coil outlines both rectangles and the oval. The flag is surrounded by laurel leaves of gold purl and stems of applied gold coil. The gold plate branches are bound at the base with gold purl.
The cap badge is attached to a black cap band. The cap band is woven with a foliate scroll pattern on a ribbed ground with a scalloped edge.
