Black wool cap badge of an Officer of the German shipping company Norddeutscher Lloyd (NDL) over a core. The badge is of a crossed key and anchor wound in metal thread. The letters ‘N’, ‘D’ and ‘L’ are to the left, top and right of the key and anchor respectively. Laurel leaves of gold purl and stems of gold bullion surround the key and anchor.
The badge is backed with a black wool blend fabric and the thread work is exposed.
