Liquid compass and binnacle

This small, lightweight compass and binnacle was probably made for a small craft such as a yacht. The binnacle is made of brass and has a removable hood with two lamp holders, one of which has been converted to take an electric lamp. There are no correcting magnets.

The compass bowl is made of brass painted grey on the outside and white on the inside with a black lubber line. It is weighted at the bottom and is mounted on gimbals. The compass card is made of mica with a central float and is marked in degrees and in points (to quarter points).
