Twenty-six buttons.
Eighteen buttons have a smooth edge. On a smooth background are two branches with leaves crossed at the bottom and going up either side, almost meeting at the top. Within a raised circular border with a textured background is ROYAL MARINES. In the centre is a post-1901 crown above a fouled anchor where the rope comes from under the right-hand side of the stock, then goes under the shank to the left and then over the shank to the right and goes under the right fluke.

In the centre is a post-1901 crown with a fouled anchor with the rope tied to the ring at the top, then appears from under the right-hand stock, goes over the shank to the left, under the shank to the right and then under the right arm. At both ends of the stock is a grenade.
