Liquid compass
Bowl: Grey painted brass, filler plug on foreside, combined air trap and corrector magnet carrier at top. Inside of bowl in poor condition and liquid is very contaminated. A white wire lubber is fitted to the foreside. Mounted in two lugs, fitted with springs and felt pads to damp out vibration, and attached to a grey metal support ring, Dia.5.5" (14cm) for securing to dashboard. The suspension system is of an unusual type.
Card: Not clearly sighted. Vertical mica ring, inside painted white with black markings, graduated to 360 degrees. Outside red and blue with white markings graduated to eight points. Attached to wire framework to a very small float at centre and carries two magnets below.
Needle: Two magnets below small float.
Pivot: Inverted type, stem unsighted. A white wire arm projecting from side of bowl engages in top of float, to prevent it from lifting off pivot.
On crude ACO stand 8.5" x 4.25" x 6.75 " ( 21.6cm x 10.8cm x 14.6cm)
