Liquid compass
Bowl: Brass, inside painted white , expansion diaphragm attached to base. Filler plug and electric lamp fitting on side of bowl. Verge glass carries a fixed arrow inside the bowl. The bar which carries the arrow carries a cup to prevent card coming off pivot. Fitted with rotatable verge ring, graduated 1 36 (to 360 degs), carries 6 parallel wires, for grid steering.
Card: Light spider, Red North point, Blue South point, of eight legs.
Needle: Six needles are mounted below spider.
Pivot: Steel needle, attached to base of bowl on a cross bar.
Stand: The wooden stand is reputed to be the one on which it was fitted in the machine in 1919.
Corrector: Corrector magnet carrier mounted on base of bowl.
