Liquid compass
Bowl: Black painted brass, two filler plugs at side, expansion chamber at base. Mounted at 45 degrees in protective case 5.5" x 5.5" x 3.0" (14cm x 14cm x 7.6cm) containing anti-vibration system. Verge ring carries electric lamp, for illuminating card at night, and a corrector magnet carrier is attached at top. Inside of bowl painted white. Fitted with black wire lubber line on the fore side of bowl.
Card: Small light white paper card, graduated in black to 360 degrees, attached to light framework at centre of which is attached a pivot cap.
Needle: Two needle magnets attached below card.
Pivot: Unsighted, as verge glass is partly opaque, believed to be of the inverted type.
