Observer's compass-Experimental Model
Bowl: Brass painted black. Glazed. Fill hole on side. White on inside with black lubber arm. Expansion chamber underneath. Bowl fixed to spring plate and has four stabilizer arms. Vernier on base plate.
Card: White with black markings graduated to 360 degrees and to four cardinal points. Has eight damper arms radiating from the rim. Domed float at centre.
Needle: Four needles slung beneath card.
Pivot: Unsighted
Azimuth Circle; Brass. Has adjustable prismatic sights with jet reflector and two filters. Also open arch and thread sights fixed in horizontal position beneath prism.
