Brass standard. Upper end of tube is fitted with 4 fore and aft and 4 athwartship tubes for carrying corrector magnets, fitted with brass sleeve which when in place prevents magnets coming out of tubes. Below this is a brass knob which operates a spring clip inside the tube which is believed to have engaged on the mounting spigot. Base of tube has a mounting collar, with elongated screw holes.
