Royal Naval pattern: 1879

Full Dress sword belt belonging to a lieutenant. The belt is of black morocco leather embroidered with two rows of gold thread and has gilt brass buckles and rings. There is a circular clasp of gilt brass, two inches in diameter, with laurel embossed edges and a crown and anchor in the centre. The sword slings are not of morocco leather, as are other examples of the period, but are of what appears to be a re-purposed sword knot. The blue and gold rope has been used as the slings, with embellishments of blue and gold basket work
