Cap, Trinity House

Elder Brother of Trinity House's (Trinity House) black wool peaked cap of Trinity House with white plastic cover. Black wool cap badge bearing the coat of arms of Trinity House attached to a mohair cap band. The coat of arms is composed of a shield bearing St George's Cross with ships in each quarter, surmounted by a crowned lion rampant gardant, bearing a sword. Both are embroidered with metal and silk thread work. Beneath the shield, on a scroll, is the motto 'TRINITAS IN UNITATE' in black silk thread (i.e., Trinity in Unity). All are surrounded by laurel leaves of gold purl with stems of gold coil.
The cap’s visor is made of card faced with black wool (green leather on the under side) with gold embroidered oak leaves to indicate rank and black plastic binding on the edge of the visor. The black plastic strap across the visor is fixed with a button to either side of the cap.
On the interior of the cap there is a brown leather hat band and blue silk lining with the maker’s details stamped in gold ‘BY APPOINTMENT / GIEVES LTD’.
Cap is from the uniform of Sir Donald Anderson, Elder Brother of Trinity House.
