Cap, HMS Worcester

Black velvet rowing cap with gold tassel worn by a cadet on HMS 'Worcester'. Gold metal braid divides the cap into sections. The letter ‘W’ and ‘1930’ are embroidered in gold purl and are surmounted by a crown of gold purl, red and black silk and gold coil. The interior of the cap is lined with black and off-white wool with maker’s mark stamped in gold ‘SW SILVER & CO’. The cap was worn by W.H. Mayhead while he was a cadet on the HMS 'Worcester'.
