Cap, Button, Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P&O)
Blue wool peaked cap of a Medical Officer Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company. Blue wool cap badge with rayed sun in gold metal work and red silk thread work on a mohair cap band.
The cap’s visor is made of card faced with black leather (green on the under side) with black leather binding on the edge of the visor. The black leather strap across the visor is fixed with a button to either side of the cap.
On the interior of the cap there is a brown leather hat band and black silk lining with an unknown maker’s details stamped in gold.
This cap is from the uniform of William George Robins Hore who was a ships surgeon on P&O Line from 1922-23.
