Liquid compass and binnacle

Bowl- Grey painted brass, filler plug at side, expansion chamber at base incorporated with glazed bottom. Inside of bowl painted white with two black lubber lines painted on white strips attached to side. Mounted in grey painted brass gimbal ring 11.5" (29.2cm) dia.
Card- Dia 7.5" (19cm) White painted mica (?0 ring with black markings, graduated to 8 points and to 360 degs. Attached by a black wire framework to a black painted float at centre.
Binnacle- Dia. at top 14.5" (36.8cm) Dia. at base 6.5" (16.5cm). Grey painted brass with brass fittings. Fitted with sphere brackets and spheres. "Flinders Bar" 25.5" (64.8cm) long. A sliding door in side gives easy access to geared horizontal and vertical corrector, magnet mechanism. Hood:grey painted brass with an oval aperture on one side and a round aperture at top and two handles.
