Liquid compass.
Bowl: Brass, filler plug and expansion chamber unsighted, mounted in an outer casing of grey painted brass on a system of springs. Outer casing mounted in grey painted brass gimbal ring 12.6" (32 cm) in diameter. Inside of bowl black with four lubber lines painted on white strips of metal attached to side of bowl. An electric light is fitted in the raised verge ring.
Card: Diameter 7.7" (19.0 cm) A dished metal strip 0.9" (2.4 cm) wide, white with black markings, graduated to 360 deg. Attached by four black wire struts to a cylindrical float at centre.
Needle: Two cylindrical needles 3.9" (10.0 cm) long attached below float.
Pivot: Unsighted.
