Liquid compass

Liquid compass.

Bowl: Dark green painted brass, glazed bottom. Inside of bowl painted white with four black painted lubber lines. Mounted in brass gimbal ring 9.4" (24.0 cm)

Card: Diameter 7.1" (18.0 cm). Paper of the Kelvin light dry type, gradusted to 1/4 points. The N point is indicated by an 'Owl'.

Needle: Six needle magnets suspended below card on a thread framework in the Kelvin manner.

Pivot: Brass pivot stem fitted with a steel pivot point is attached to centre of bottom glass. The pivot point engages in jewelled pivot cup carried at the centre of the card.
