Liquid compass.

Bowl: Grey painted metal outer casing, filler plug at side, glazed bottom incorporating expansion chamber. Outer casing contains an internally sprung inner bowl which contains the card and has four lubber lines, which are black lines painted on flat white plates rising from bottom of bowl.

Card: Diameter 7.9" (20.0 cm) metal card 0.9" (2.5 cm) wide white with black markings graduated to 360 degs and to 1/4 points. The N point indicated by a rayed globe. Attached to large flat float by a light metal framework.

Needle: Unsighted.

Pivot: Unsighted
