Boat's Liquid Compass and Binnacle
Boat's liquid compass with binnacle.
This compass is in very poor condition
Bowl: Brown plastic, filler plug at side, expansion chamber at base. Diameter 5.5" (14.0 cm). Inside of bowl brown plastic with two lubber lines carried on white plastic strips attached to side of bowl. Corrector magnets are fitted at centre of verge glass, there is also a shadow pin mounted at centre. Mounted in black painted brass gimbal ring 6.25" (16.0 cm) diameter.
Card: Diameter 3.9" (10.0 cm) white plastic annular ring with black markings, graduated to 360 degs. Attached by light brass framework to pivot (no float)
Needle: Four flat needles in brass casing in two tiers mounted on light brass framework.
Pivot: Unsighted.
Binnacle: Grey painted aluminium but otherwise the same as 566, except for an additional electric lamp mounted below compass bowl.
