Bearing plate

A heavy brass ring graduated to 360 degs on upper surface and edge. Fitted with single cross member which has the alidade pivoted at its centre. The alidade sights consist of two hinged vanes; fore sight is a frame with sighting thread, the other is a slit sight. Cross member fitted with a quick release mechanism which releases instrument from mounting plate. Spare mounting plate in wooden box.
