Liquid compass - aircraft

Liquid compass. There are nine screws and washers in an envelope marked ACO0553.1 which can be found via the Whole/Part toggle.

Bowl: Black painted brass, filler plug at side and four expansion chambers also at side of bowl. A card lifter is fitted operating through a gland in the base of the bowl. Inside of bowl is painted white (inside of bowl in poor condition). Two black lubber lines painted on side of bowl. Mounted in brass gimbal ring and attached by two black painted brass brackets to a woonden stand, Diam 8.25" (21.0 cm)

Card: Ordinary boats type, White paper? rim with black markings graduated to 32 points and in quarter points. Attached to a white painted float at centre.

Needle: Two magnets of circular section mounted through float below card.

Pivot: Unsighted. Inverted type.
