Liquid compass - aircraft

Liquid compass.

Bowl: Black painted aluminium, filler plug at side, expansion chamber at base. Inside of bowl unpainted with four lubber lines on white strips attached to side. Verge ring graduated anti-clockwise to 360 degs. A course indicating pointer is fitted at centre of verge glass. Mounted in black painted aluminium gimbal ring carried in a U shaped bracket and suppert which is attached to a spindle carrying two racks for correcting magnets.

Card: Diameter 3.3" (8.5 cm) Enamelled, white with black markings, graduated to 360 degs and the N,E,S and W points are coloured respectively red, green, blue and yellow. Attached to an unpainted aluminium float at centre.

Needle: Unsighted.

Pivot: Unsighted.

On wooden stand 7.5" x 6.5" x 1.5" (18.5 cm x 16.5 cm x 3.8 cm)
