Liquid compass - aircraft

Liquid compass.

Bowl: Black painted brass, filler plug at side, expansion chamber at base. Fitted with brass verge ring, gradusted to 360 degrees anti-clockwise. A moveable course indicating pointer is fitted to verge ring. Inside of bowl painted white, a red lubber line is painted on the foreside. Mounted in a black metal gimbal ring attached to a U shaped bracket which has a mounting bracket at the base.

Card: White painted mica with black markings graduated to 360 degrees attached to white painted float at centre. The float has a red line running from the centre to N point.

Needle: Unsighted.

Pivot: Unsighted.

Mounted on a wooden stand. Diameter 4.25" (10.8 cm)
