Button, Royal Naval uniform: pattern 1825-1827?
Two buttons. One button has a rope twist edge. Within a raised circular border on a lined background is a pre-1901 crown above a fouled anchor where the rope goes under the left-hand side of the stock, over the shank and than under the shank and then trails under the left-hand arm. The design is similar to the medical branch circa 1825 though a snake is used in place of a rope.
The other button has a rope twist edge. Within a raised circular border on a lined background is a pre-1901 crown above a fouled anchor with the stock slanting down to the left. The rope goes under the right-hand side of the stock, under the shank to the right and then under the shank to the left and then trails under the left-hand arm. The design appears to match what was used for Captain, Commander, Lieutenant and Midshipmen between 1825 - 1827.
