Button, Robert MacKill & Company

Button worn on the uniform of the shipping company Robert MacKill & Company, Glasgow. Gilt brass domed button with a rope twist outer border and raised inner border. A white swallowtail flag (indicated by no shading) with a red cross (indicated by vertical shading) appears in the centre of the button above laurel. Everything appears on lined ground.
On the reverse of the button the maker is inscribed - PAISLEY’S GLASGOW

Reference to the house flag can be found in ‘Lloyd’s Book of House Flags and Funnels’ 1912 (No.1651, page 115).
