Liquid compass

Bowl-Black painted brass, filler plug at side, expansion chamber at base. Bottom of bowl glazed. Inside of bowl painted white, fitted with a black wire lubber line projecting from side. Mounted in black painted brass gimbal ring 10" (25.4cm) in diameter.
Card- Diameter 6.5" (16.5cm) mainly black with white strip at edge carrying black markings, graduated to 1/4 points and to 360 degs. Attached to small black painted float dome at centre.
Pivot - Unsighted but it is possible to see the bridge mounted across bottom of bowl to which pivot stem is attached.
