Liquid compass and binnacle

Bowl-Black painted brass, filler plug at side, expansion chamber fitted at base around edge of bottome glass. Base of bowl fitted with an external metal brige having an expanded centre, to accommodate corrector magnet carrier. Inside of bowl silvered, a black painted lubber line is carried on a metal strip attached below verge ring and extending to base of bowl. Verge ring graduated to 360 degs. The verge glass has a brass spigot at its centre to accommodate an azimuth sight. Mounted in a black painted brass gimbal ring 8.8" (22.5cm) diameter.
Card- dia. 5.3" (13.5cm) white painted mica with black markings, graduated to 32 points and to 360 degs at edge of card with another set of graduations quadrantally in degrees. Attached to silvered float at centre.
Needle-Six needles 3.9" (10cm) long of circular section mounted below float.
Pivot- White metal pivot stem attached to metal bridge at base of bowl. A metal pivot point at top of stem engages in cone-shaped jewelled pivot cup at centre of float.
Binnacle- Diameter 11" (28cm) grey painted brass (?) no correctors are fitted. One carrying handle, fitted with an oil lamp carrier which has been adapted to take an electric lamp. Hood has two carrying handles and a glazed window 5.9" (15cm) diameter on side. Flange at base has four screw holes for securing binnacle to deck.
