Liquid compass and binnacle

Bowl-Dia: 8.6" (22cm) Black painted brass, filler plug at side, expansion chamber at base incorporated with glazed bottom of bowl. Base of bowl fitted with heavy balancing weight. Inside of bowl painted white with a black lubber line painted on side. Mounted in a black painted brass gimbal ring 10.45" (26.5cm) dia. attached to binnacle.
Card- Dia: 7.1" (18cm) white painted mica with black markings, graduated to 1/4 points and to 360 degs. Attached to large white painted float at centre.
Pivot- Stem can be seen attached at centre of bridge at base of bowl.
Binnacle-Wooden pedestal, brass top, 13.4" (34cm) dia. Fitted with chain boxes, bucket for vertical magnets, two doors giving access to for and aft and athwartship corrector magner racks, plus two brass shutters giving access to electric lamp and shutter fittings.The hood is provided with four glazed apertures with brass covers (two being fitted with shutters). Top of hood is fitted with sight vanes.
