Liquid compass

Bowl- Brass painted black and expanded at bottom. White on inside and has two lubber lines 90 degs apart. The bowl is glazed top and bottom and has a graduated verge ring, 0-360 degrees, which appears to have been displaced by 90 degs. There is a filler hole on the side and the compass is fitted with an annular bubble-trap. There is a diameter bar on which the pivot rests. The device is gimballed.
Card- Made of "plastic" type material, consists of a 2" rim held on wire framework attached to a domed float at centre. The card is white and graduated to 1/4 points and 0-360 degs. dia: 8" (20.3cm).
Needle-Two needles held in tubes and slung beneath the card.
