Liquid compass and binnacle top

Bowl- Grey painted brass, filler plug at side and two expansion chambers. Base of bowl glazed. Inside of bowl painted white with four black painted lubber lines. Mounted in gimbal ring 10.8" (27.5cm) dia. which in turn is mounted in binnacle top.
Card - Dia: 7" (17.8cm) white painted mica (?) with black markings, graduated to 1/4 points and to 360 degs. Attached to a black painted high-domed float at centre.
Needle- Two 5.5" (14cm) long cylindrical needles mounted below card, either side of float.
Pivot- Brass stem mounted at centre of bridge at base of bowl. Stem carries a steel pivot point which engages in cone-shaped jewelled cup at centre of float.
Binnacle-Top dia. 13.6" (34.5cm), 5.9" (15cm) deep. Grey painted brass with chain boxes, containing chain either side. At fore side is a clinometer, graduated 0-50 degs either side of vertical.
