Liquid compass and binnacle

Bowl-Dia:9.75"(24.8cm) black painted brass, filler plug at side, expansion chamber at base. Inside of bowl painted white with two black wire lubber pointers projecting from side, set 90degs apart. Mounted in a black painted brass gimbal ring 11.25" (28.6cm) dia. attached to binnacle.
Card-Dia: 7" (17.8cm) white painted mica with black markings, graduated to 1/4 points. Attached by a light wire framework to small white painted float at centre.
Needle- Two needles of circular section 3" (7.6cm) long mounted either side of float beneath card.
Binnacle-"Kelvin Type" wood with brass top. Dia:14" (35.6cm). Fitted with sphere brackets (one sphere missing), two wooden doors giving access to fore-and-aft and athwartships corrector magnet racks and bucket containing the vertical corrector magnets. Hood has an oval aperture with lid, a circular glazed aperture with lid and shutters, a round hole at top with brass cover, and two oil lamp brackets (lamps missing).
