Button, Royal Naval uniform: pattern 1787-1812
Button. Flat. Rope twist edte. Within a circular border is an oval with an inner rope twist edge with a stippled background. In the centre is an anchor with the stock slanting down to the right. The rope is tied to the ring at the top, then goes under the right-hand side of the stock, under the shank to the left, then under the shank to the right before going under the right fluke. Dug up in Antigua. Commissioned officer's button as worn by Captains, Commanders and Lieutenants.
