Button, Royal Naval uniform: pattern 1774-1860
Three buttons. Flat. Smooth edge. On a smooth background is an anchor with the rope tied to a ring at the top, then it goes under the left-hand stock, under the shank to the right, under the shank to the left, under the left arm and then it curls under the crown and under the right arm. This pattern worn by Captains, Masters, Surgeons, Pursers, Warrant officers and Midshipmen at various times between 1774 - 1860.
