Button, Royal Naval uniform: pattern 1807-1812 or 1825?
Five buttons. Flat buttons with twisted rope edge. On a lined background is an oval, itself with a smooth background. Within the oval is an anchor with a snake twisting around the anchor. The head is poking left through the ring/shackle at the top. Its body goes under the right-hand stock, over the shank to the left then under the shank to the right, over the right arm and curls under the crown. Surgeon.
