Two buttons. One button is domed with a smooth edge. On a smooth background, around the bottom edge going up either side is a wreath of leaves. Around the top edge is ROYAL MARINES. The rope is tied to the ring and goes under the right-hand stock, then goes over the shank to the left , then under the shank to the right and finishes under the right arm.
