Liquid compass and binnacle

Bowl- Brass painted black, glazed top and bottom, screw fill hole at centre top glass. Weight around circumference at bottom. White inside graduated to 360 degrees around inside wall. Black lubber line and set in gimbals.
Card-Mica, paper covered, white with black markings graduated to 360 degrees in two "mirror" effect scales. Hollow at centre with domed float in middle.
Needle-Six parallel needles held in tubes slung beheath float and card.
Azimuth circle- Loose fitting circle painted black. Two brass turning knobs. Front and back sights. Back sight has two circular filters and a slit sight. Front sight has an open arch with wire moveable prism. Both sights can be lowered.
Binnacle-Brass and wood in oval shape tapering towards top. Four bolt hol deck brackets at base. Two solid tube compensating balls held on graduated arms. Two apertures for correcting rods. Two apertures for access to hollow compartment below compass well. This compartment holds wires for illumination and circular hole with chain for centre correcting rods. There is also an aperture type shield to separate illumination from compass well. there are two ring bolts below compensating ball brackets.
Hood-Brass diving helmet hood. Three sliding door apertures as well as top and side glazed, both hinged. Side glazed has separate hinged brass cover.
