Liquid compass and binnacle

Bowl-Dia. 10" (25.4cm) Black painted brass, filler plug at side, expansion chamber unsighted. Bottom of bowl fitted with an opaque domed glass which is partly filled with oil (?). Black painted brass verge ring graduated quadrantally in degrees. Inside of bowl painted white with four black wire lubber lines projecting from side. Mounted in a black painted brass gimbal ring 11.5" (29.2cm) dia.
Card - Dia. 6.5" (16.5cm) Mica, inner part painted black with white markings, graduated to 32 points, the outer part painted white with black markings, graduated to 360 degs and quadrantally in degrees. Attached to a black painted float at centre.
Azimuth circle Dia. 10" (25.4cm) Black painted brass circle, carries a black painted brass bar across its diameter which has a spirit level at centre, and four black painted brass shadow pins forming a pyramid.
Binnacle-Dia. 14.5" (36.8cm) Dark grey painted metal with brass top and fittings. Three doors in side of binnacle give access to fore-and-aft and athwartship corrector magnet racks and a container for vertical corrector magnets. "D" correction is provided by nickel iron plates 11.5 "x 3.9" contained in brass boxes which can be moved in and out on brackets. A Flinders Bar 20.25" (51.4cm) long is fitted (in form of flat case) containing rods.
