Sword

Solid half-basket hilted sword, the hilt of the sword consists of a gilt half-basket guard with raised bars and a crown and anchor badge. There is a folding flap with a locking stud on the inside of the guard. The sword comes complete with a sword knot made of blue and gold cord with a barrel-shaped mould covered with blue and gold gimp, with a blue bullion at the end. The sword has a lion's-head pommel and back-piece, the mane extending the length of the back-piece. The white fish-skin grip is bound with three gilt wires. The slightly curved, flat-backed steel blade has a double-edged spear point. The blade is engraved with a proof mark, scroll decoration, a crown over a foul anchor motif and a crown over the Royal arms motif. The black leather scabbard has two gilt lockets with rings and chape, all of which are ornamented with fluted threads and scrolls.
