Dry card compass and binnacle

The binnacle top is marked ACO0777.1 and can be found via the Whole/Part toggle.
Bowl-Black painted brass, a liquid filled hemisherical glass container is fitted at base. Inside of bowl painted white with four black lubber lines painted on side of bowl 90 degs apart. At centre of verge glass is a brass stud for mounting an azimuth mirror, this stud also carries, inside of bowl, a brass stem which engages on the top of pivot top to prevent card from lifting off. Verge ring graduated to 360 degs. Mounted in a black painted brass gimbal ring 13.25" (33.7cm) dia.
Card-Dia. 10" (25.4cm) Paper card, "Kelvins Light Dry Type", white with black markings, graduated in 1/4 points and quadrantally in degrees. Connected by radiating threads to aluminium ring at centre.
Needles-Eight carried on a thread framework below card.
Pivot-Aluminium jewelled pivot cap carried at centre of card engages on steel point mounted at centre of large white painted metal dome secured to base of bowl by four metal struts.
Binnacle Top-Dia. 16" (40.6cm). Brass top with Clinometer fitted on side.
