Dirk
Half-basket hilted dirk, the hilt of the dirk consists of a gilt half-basket guard with a plain quillon. The guard is made in the form of a dolphin. The letters 'U S A' are engraved on the flat plate. The top of the pommel is embossed with an eagle and the sides are decorated with a design of oak leaves and acorns. The white fish-skin grip is bound with three gilt wires. The grip and the pommel curve down. The straight, flat-backed steel blade is grooved to the point. The black leather scabbard has two gilt lockets and chape. The lockets are engraved with a knotted rope design in the wake of the rings. The shoe of the chape is made in the form of a dolphin.
