Liquid compass

Bowl-Grey painted brass, filler plug at side, expansion chamber incorporated with glazed bottom of bowl. A heavy balancing ring is attached to base. Mounted in a black painted brass gimbal ring 10.25" (26cm) dia. Inside of bowl black with four black lubber lines carried on white plastic strips, mounted 90 degs. apart, attached to base of bowl.
Card-Dia: 6.25" (16cm) White plastic ring with black markings, graduated to 360 degs. Attached by a black painted brass framework to black float at centre.
Needle-Two flat bar needles 4.3" (11cm) long, encased in clear plastic, mounted below float.
Pivot-Mainly unsighted but mounting bridge can be seen at bottom of bowl, having at its centre, six radial spherical springs to which the pivot is attached.
