Sword
Solid half-basket hilted sword owned by Master at Arms A E Peek. The hilt consists of a solid half-basket guard with crown and anchor badge. The black fish-skin grip is bound with three copper wires. There is a modified stepped pommel with slightly fluted back-piece and a short upturned quillon with disc terminal. The blade is a Wilkinson and very slightly curved. The scabbard is black leather with two gilt lockets with rings and a gilt chape. Inscribed on the top locket of scabbard is 'PRESENTED TO/MAA,AE PEEK/BY THE/SHIP'S COMPANY/OF/HMS NEW ZEALAND (1914)'
