A metal (aluminium) tube with a cut away glazed band around the centre. There is a hinged lid. The tube contains two needles one above the other, a lens as top glass, a lens above an index marker for the top needle, graduations around the lower, a spirit level and a mirror in the lid. The lid operates a needle lifter.
