alidade

A heavy grey painted brass alidade with wide cross piece which holds spigot to fit into compass verge glass and a locking lever. The fore sight is an open frame with thread, with a dark glass and mirror for celestial observations. Back sight contains slit, peep-hole with prism and dark shades.
For use on small repeaters associated with Plath and Patin transmitting magnetic compasses.

In fitted wooden box 9.1" x 5.5" x 5.5" (23.2 x 14.0 x 14.0 cm) : containing two shadow pins.
