Cutlass
Cutlass, the hilt of the cutlass consists of a black steel guard, which is bent round from the tang to form an oval shell. The centre part of the trailing edge is also bent over. The knuckle guard is enlarged to form an oval. The cast iron grip is grooved. The steel blade is straight and flat. The obverse of the blade is decorated with a Georgian crown motif over the letters 'GR' and a small crown over the number '2'. Part of the crown motif and the letter 'R' are faint. The reverse of the blade is engraved with the words 'REDDELL & BATE'.
