Dry compass
Card: Mica covered with paper, white with black markings, graduated quadrantally in degrees and 1/2 points. N point marked by a five pointed star.
Needle: Single flat bar needle with pointed ends and expanded centre through which the pivot is secured. Brass balancing weights are attached at the E & W points.
Pivot: Double pivot type. Consists of a long steel spindle with pivot points at both ends and which is attached at centre of needle by a brass collar.
