Serial number: 2478313

The nickel-plated, open-face case has a conventional winding/setting crown with circular bow. The back and front both have snap-on bezels with a convex glass and both are engraved 'Hamilton'.

A white enamel dial of 43 mm Æ is marked 'Hamilton' above the sunk centre. The dial has bold vertical Arabic numerals with small vertical Arabic five-minute figures in red round the outside and a sunk seconds dial with vertical Arabic five-second figures. Blued-steel, spade and poker-hands have a counter-balanced, blued-steel seconds hand.

The going barrel movement is of bright, damascened nickel and is signed with gilt engraving on the escape/fourth wheel bridge 'HAMILTON WATCH CO. / LANCASTER, PA. / 21 JEWELS / 992'. The barrel bridge is marked in gilt engraving 'DOUBLE ROLLER / 2478313', and the balance cock is marked 'ADJUSTED / 5 POSITIONS'. A polished steel index mounted on the balance cock acts on a lateral screw for fine rating adjustment. The index has a scale under it engraved with 'F' and 'S' for fast and slow. There is a four-wheel train with a going barrel and a gold centre wheel.

There is a double roller, jewelled and club tooth lever escapement. The impulse roller has a clear jewelled impulse pin and pallets with clear stones. The pallets bank against brass banking pins. The cut bimetallic balance is mounted with 18 gold screws around the rim. The flat spiral, blued-steel balance spring with over coil has an index mounted on the upper surface of the balance cock. The train is jewelled to the centre (21 jewels in total) with red stones in gold screwed-in settings. The balance and escape wheel have gold-mounted end stones.

The instrument is in good sound condition with one small crack in the dial at seven.
